Explore Festival ProgramThe Ekhnaten International Short Film Festival began its journey in 2016 with its inaugural edition, showcasing exceptional short films from around the world while celebrating diverse voices in cinema. After a successful first edition, the festival took an extended hiatus due to logistical challenges and organizational restructuring. We are proud to announce our triumphant return in 2024 with our second edition, stronger and more committed than ever to supporting independent filmmakers and promoting cultural exchange through the art of short filmmaking.
To promote international understanding through cinema, showcase diverse voices from around the world, and support emerging filmmakers while celebrating the art of storytelling. We aim to bridge cultures through the universal language of film and provide a platform for meaningful dialogue about global issues.
To establish Ekhnaten Festival as the premier destination for cinematic excellence in the MENA region, fostering cultural exchange and artistic innovation. We envision a future where our festival serves as a catalyst for international cooperation in cinema and a launchpad for emerging talent.

The Ekhnaten Festival has held two editions, with our inaugural festival in 2016 followed by a long hiatus due to logistical challenges. We are excited to present our second edition in 2024, marking our return to celebrating exceptional short filmmaking.

Due to logistical challenges and organizational restructuring, the festival was on hiatus for several years. During this period, our team worked diligently to enhance the festival's infrastructure, develop stronger international partnerships, and create a more robust platform for showcasing short films. This extended break has allowed us to return with renewed vision and improved capabilities for our 2024 edition.

With our 2024 return, we are committed to establishing a regular festival schedule and building upon the foundation laid in our inaugural edition. Our goal is to make Ekhnaten Festival an annual celebration of short film excellence, fostering international dialogue through cinema and supporting emerging filmmakers from around the world.
The Egyptian International Film Festival is now accepting submissions for our 2024 edition. We welcome feature films, documentaries, short films, and animation from filmmakers worldwide.
EIF Festival has partnered with the Arab Cinema Institute to launch a new initiative supporting emerging Arab filmmakers through mentorship and funding opportunities.
We are proud to announce our distinguished international jury for 2024, including acclaimed directors, producers, and critics from across the globe.
The 2024 festival will take place across multiple prestigious venues in Cairo, including the Cairo Opera House, Zawya Cinema, and the newly renovated Galaxy Cinema.
This year's industry market will feature expanded networking opportunities, with over 200 international buyers, distributors, and producers expected to attend.
New for 2024: A dedicated competition section for student films, with special prizes and mentorship opportunities for emerging young filmmakers.
